Shigmotsav: Celebrated in the month
of March, it spans around two weeks. Dhakto Shigmo and Vodlo Shigmo are
two forms of this festival. Dhakto Shigmo is celebrated by the labor
class whereas all the classes of Goan society join in Vodlo Shigmo
celebration.

Kalas Utsav: The festival commences
on Phalgun Shuddha Purnima and continues for the next one month.. The
special attraction of Morjim village in the month of Phalgun, it is
celebrated on a grand scale every alternate year.

Feat of St Francis Xavier: The
festival marks the day when St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa,
was buried. Attended by over two lakh devotees from across the world,
it is celebrated every year on 3rd of December.

Novidade: This festival signifies the
religious integrity of the people of Goa. Celebrated by Christians and
Hindus alike, it is the ceremony when farmer offer the first rice crop
harvest to the church.

Carnival: This 3-day bash is

and enjoyment, it is organized two days prior to the Lent. Initially a
Christian event, now it has become the festival of masses.
